The Bodhi Tree

I am just having some thoughts today, that I want to share. I was thinking about my life, and the mistakes I made, and how it caused me to suffer in my life. I see my life, what I remember, and I see that I could have made better choices, but I feel we rarely are born into a place with the right guidance and safety. The things that have gone wrong in our life can make us angry, and we aren't taught to forgive, and to deal with our problems from wisdom.

In 2008/2009, I had an experience that was very profound, a period of time where I was free of fear/anxiety and full of Love, joy and peace. I now see that I could have used some guidance for navigating what came next, which was being diagnosed with "mental illness". There is another way of talking about mental illness, the term "spiritual emergency" which refers to the pitfalls of awakening (including the mental health system). People need to deal with their own past, and forgive as well as ask for forgiveness, but in the process of enlightenment people need to know that there is collective pain, trauma, and evil that may come at them in a mystical way. The temptation of Jesus, the challenges the Buddha faced under the Bodhi tree, are just a couple examples. Asking for guidance and help from God, in every part of the process, helps one navigate these waters and get to the other shore (as Buddha put it). Fear runs peoples lives before awakening, holds us back in the process of getting free, and once a person experiences enlightenment, they are able to help others get free.

Love, Joy and Peace y'all 💙🙂✌🏽
